September 21 is a holiday for all the Armenians in Armenia, Artsakh and the Diaspora, a day that unites us around a common idea- the idea of our independence. This is the noble idea of having a powerful and developed homeland.
The holiday begun with the visit of the president and some top-ranking officers of the country to the Yerablur for paying a tribute to the victims of the Artsakh liberation war and independent Armenia’s heroes. Artsakh President Bako Sahakyan and MOD Movses Hakobyan also arrived in Armenia to participate in the celebration events in Yerevan.
Later a reception was held, with participation of the ambassadors accredited to Armenia and heads of international organizations. Many international officials have sent their congratulation letters to the president, including Hillary Clinton, Vladimir Putin etc.
In several districts of the city small concerts were held. In the evening a gala concert was held at the Republic Square, after which grandiose fireworks lit the evening sky.
This day is a national holiday not only for us, but also for all the Armenians living abroad, we celebrate the day, but we have to remember that our independence was gained at the cost of our brothers’ lives, thus we must struggle together and united, continuously enhancing and increasing our victories and success, our achievements and accomplishments. We mustn’t lose the idea of independence as a supreme value and we must take pride on it. Because the state is independent by its independent citizens.
