Opposition Heritage Party leader Raffi Hovannisian has announced his intention to contest next year’s presidential election.
“I declare today my nomination in the upcoming presidential election,” the 52-year-old United States-born politician said at a press conference on Friday.
“I am doing this as a citizen of the Republic of Armenia who has the will and feels his share of responsibility for today’s situation and wants to participate in overcoming this situation,” stressed Hovannisian, who was not eligible to contest previous presidential elections in Armenia over his failure to meet the 10-year citizenship requirement.
