YEREVAN. – The evidence of violations and corruption is apparent in Armenia’s public health sector, and we expect the medical facility heads to show the real salaries and their increase, Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan stated during Thursday’s consultation meeting at the Ministry of Health.
In his words, these administrators need to abandon shadow payments. “Our studies have shown that this will be followed by a steep increase in salaries. We need to provide legitimate salaries for the staff,” the PM said.
Sargsyan noted that those medical facilities that are included in the danger zone will lose state funding. Also, the Health Ministry will conduct a study of such facilities and revoke their licenses. “We don’t want to resort to the Criminal Code, but we are obligated to reduce corruption in the health sector,” the Premier stated.
